Traveling to Maui in January brings some BIG travelers every year. Nope, I’m not talking about a flood of people from around the world, I’m talking about humpback whales. They come to this area to give birth, breed, and to show their flirting moves! What a perfect opportunity to get some amazing pictures of these animals.

Climb on a small and fast boat to become immersed with these animals. Our captain made sure we were all cozy, safe, and then began to head out.

Once we were out on the water, we couldn’t stop seeing many different whale behaviors. Somewhere waving their pictorial fins high in the air, while others were resting. Still, some were trying to capture the attention of the ladies, and mothers were allowing their new born to play in the water. Off in the distance, we could see some of the whales jumping high out of the water to show off their best move. The sound and power from just one of these breaches is stunning!!

As our time with this tour group continued, we kept finding more and more of these amazing animals. We were so close to them because of the boat size, it was incredible to have one pop its head next to the boat, breath, and dive back down! In the process, this whale had even bumped into the boat, and cause it to move! It was not only a surprise, but incredible to know what amount of strength these animals have.

Once our time was over, and all of us had our new and amazing pictures, it was time to head back to the dock. We still saw these amazing animals all around us, but it we headed back to the harbor. However, the experience was one that I am still excited over today. They are so amazing to see, watch, and learn about.
