Gondola Ride
Ok, so yes it may be extremely touristy, but, where else in the world are you going to ride the water filled alleyways of Venice? The gondoliers will take you through the waterways where it’s fewer people crowded, and much more of a relaxing pace. Pass along one of the homes of Mozart and Marco Polo see the old fish market, and travel into the main “street” of all of Venice, the Grand Canal! Pass by the Rialto Bridge and under the Bridge of Sighs. Learn more about the water’s height difference between high and low tide and learn more about the boats too. These “sport cars” of the canals are still an exciting way to experience the city.
Before getting on one of these 3 meters (9 feet) boats, confirm with the gondolier about what kind of ride you would like. Just a ride around will cost less than a ride with history and information given during the ride. Not many will sing while shuttling people around, so ask too. They will charge more for singing as well. There are different lengths of tours to, so the key is to ask and confirm before climbing into one of these boats.
