Duomo di Lecce
Commissioned in 1144, the city’s Duomo was constructed differently. Rather than through the main entry, people enter from the side. The side entrance was and intentionally designed as a feature of the Duomo and remains unique.
Once inside, you will be awe struck as the intricate colored marble pieces blend together, and you view the high ceiling praising Saint Oronzo. High above everyone are two windows colored different shades of glass, that resemble the sun and moon. Throughout the building, you are surrounded by masterful paintings of Catholic images.
