The fortress of Corfu, and no-man-land moat.

The island of Corfu is very unique. It is an island of Greece, and one of many locations within the Ionian Islands. Corfu has had a very turbulent past with many “owners.” One of the ruling powers over this location was Venice. The Dodges held Corfu as one of their strongholds against the eastern powers of the time. Because of the power struggles, Corfu had built a massive fort in order to prevent any invasions.

This fort was constructed using the land inside as a benefit to shield any cannon balls flying through, as well as a water passage-way between the fort and mainland. Between this area, also was a no-man’s land which aided in preventing invaders from gaining entrance. Within these walls, lie a church, cannons, and a beautiful view of the sea.
