This cave system may seem pretty insignificant at first thought, however the more learned about this cave system, the more impressive it becomes. This same cave system has archaeological finds from the Paleolithic and Neolithic era! This means that the caves could have been one of the first home locations for early humans along the Greek coastline. These very caves may have also been the beginning legend of where the god Hades and his river of Styx came from, which in turn became the Catholic vision of Hell.

Not only does this cave system hold so much value to humanity, but the beauty of the colorful stalactites and stalagmites keep people at awe. These colors can be yellow, green, red, and even purple! The slowly dripping water passing through different elements in the ground are carrying these trace elements, and creating new designs.

Enter by going down a small stair case, onto a boat that takes you partly through the cavern. Your raft driver will take you through the watery path with ease. Just, watch your head sometimes while on this journey. Some of the formations reach down to where the rafts are. Once reaching the other side, climb out and get exploring more! Follow the pathway through the twists and turns of the rest of the cave.  Keep an eye out for any other formations reaching toward your head. There are some lights set up within the cave, but the different formations, and colors will be what you are here for. There is also a small book as you exit where you can leave comments.

Entry fee for the Diros Caves is 15 Euro. Pictures are taken of you in the raft, and can be purchased after your tour is done.
