When I first arrived at the entrance of the huge walled city, I was trying to decide what to do first. We had arrived late enough in the day, that most of the stores, would be closing soon. Not sure what we could do in a couple of hours, I asked a couple of locals who were explaining some of the tours. They highly recommended a cable car ride up the hill that towers over the city and a restaurant with excellent food. They were sure we would be delighted enjoying a dinner overlooking the city.

Without too much effort, a reservation phone call was made to the Restaurant Panorama for two. I was handed a map and given directions to the cable car ticket office and was told that restaurant would be expecting us. Trekking off, I was in the hope that I wouldn’t become too lost! A short walk along the outside of the wall brought us to the ticket booth. After buying tickets, we walked over to the cable car. Since there is only one car going up and one down at a time, I thought I would get a moment to admire the city more. However, just then, my chariot to the top of the hill arrived!

Climbing in with several others, the doors were closed, and UP we climbed. We zipped up the hillside much faster than I had anticipated. It only took a minute and then we were docking and let off to take in the view.

After taking time to appreciate and photograph the spectacular view of the entire wall city of Dubrovnik below, with all the red tile roofs as well as the harbor, it was time to try and find our restaurant. I wasn’t sure who to ask, so I and asked one of the girls standing by the podium. Unsure I was in the right place, the girl looked at the list, saw our reservation, and seated us at a table front and center a perfect view of the whole city!

After taking several minutes to take pictures of the city below, (and we could see all of Dubrovnik) which was spectacular, it was now time to try and find our reserved dinner. I wasn’t sure who to ask, so I followed the pathway down and asked one of the girls standing by the podium. Unsure I was in the right place, the girls looked at the list, saw our reservation, and took us front and center of the whole city!

Dinner was reasonably priced and was phenomenal! First class dining while watching the sunset cast its spell over the Medieval city! We saw several different ships cruising along the waters, and they appeared dwarfed against those walls. It is quite the temperature change from the streets of the city to the top of the hill, but the restaurant provides heated lamps and blankets so that your meal and visit is enjoyable. From these heights, the view is breathtaking! This is one memory of my journey here that has left a very lasting impression.
