The entire Butrint site is amazing! It is easy to get lost in the amazement. While being astounded by the wonders around you, don’t forget to look down.
Although the Brutint ruins are ancient, they are filled with life. As we were walked through the site, we were pleasantly surprised to find we were not alone.
We found little turtles taking a bath in the pools and sun bathing on the rocks. The little turtles remind us there is joy in the present while marveling at the ancient world; because the site is marshy, these little turtles have decided that it is the perfect home for them. Being wild critters, I would have thought they would shy away, yet they seemed to be striking a pose for my camera. It was fun to see these living animals among ruins that are centuries old. They help remind visitors that although you have grown up, you should never forget to channel your inner child; you never know what you find when you do.
