Road to Hana Tour
Spend your whole day driving over 59 bridges, most single lane, and curve around the island with over 600 twists? This adventures can be done on your own, or with a tour guide. I decided to travel with a group so that I wouldn’t get lost or stuck somewhere and not know where I was going.
Locals have a joke about this trip if attempted without a group from tourist. They tease that the pathway is called “Honeymoon drive” while heading out, but “divorce drive” on the way back. This drive contains many different directions, but spectacular views no matter what. Enjoy the amazing micro-climates of Maui which changes from jungle, to barren grassland.
Come across hundreds of waterfalls that cascade down the top of the volcano cliffs, and drastic cliff edges right next to the road. Further on the journey, discover some beautiful trees that contain several different colors all twisting around the truck. Continue onward to reach amazing black beaches, then finally reach Hana. This small town does not have the same hustle and bustle as Lahaina, but is very peaceful.
After lunch in Hana, climb the tour bus once more to discover more. Discover the burial location of Charles Lindbergh, shortly later the Seven Secret Pools where you can take a dip into the water making a heading straight for the ocean, and later find a dirt road and a vast grassland. Trees in this area were once cut down as they were precious wood for canoes. Now, there are zero trees, but a drastic landscape is revealed.
My tour ended with a wine tasting. This wine is different than any I have tried prior due to the fact that its main ingredient isn’t grapes, but made from pineapple! Each of us on the tour had the opportunity to sample three different flavors they had available. If we really liked what we tried, the option to purchase bottles was available. We could even have the bottled shipped home so that we didn’t need to worry over airplane transfer.
