Investigate the Maya Key zoo. Walking around, come face to face with amazing local wildlife that are being kept on display for educational purposes. Each of the animals have been donated or rescued due to an injury. The purpose of the zoo is to give visitors the opportunity to view these beautiful animals. Come across a vast array of local birds, large cats such as the jaguar, even sloths and monkeys! Sometimes, if you watch where you step, you may find leaf-cutter ants hauling cut up pieces of leaves back to the nest. These animals are really amazing and a great way to see them and know they are working on giving them the best care while learning about the different wildlife local to the area.
