Ducal Palace
This palace served to boaster the power of the Duke, as well as to the site to conduct legal affairs. Imagine stepping into the open courtyard, surrounded by massive pillars, and preparing to address the Duke. Stepping into such a grand area must have been such an intimidating ordeal during the mid-Renaissance.
Today, you are welcomed to tour the palace and see how life was for those who were born into the higher segment of society. Once inside, walk from room to room full of beautiful paintings, some so old that the images are faint and barely visible! Come across finely decorated bedrooms, and conference rooms. To help you, the Roman numerals on the door posts will help you navigate.
Finally, come across the room of the Duke himself, and tour his extremely beautiful study. Inlay and carved wood panels define the space which also presents detailed paintings. One of the most beautiful wildlife carvings is the squirrel!
Continue your tour wandering from one ballroom to the other until the whole palace has been discovered. The paintings and tapestries hung on each of the walls are amazing, beautiful, and must have taken significant time and money to create. Walk back out into the courtyard and end your journey.
