Rembrandt’s House
Ever wanted to visit the home of one of the greatest Dutch artist? Located in Amsterdam, this home of the artist has now been turned into a museum. Today, you get to take a trip back in time and wander around the actual home of Rembrandt! It has been re-modeled after what his home would have looked like when he was there, and creating masterful pieces of artwork.
Here, you can walk through the 17th Century studio where he created his famous paintings, and sketches. Pass from family room, bedroom, kitchen, and even see his private space away from everything. While walking through the rooms, you can have a demonstration of how his paint colors were made, and what ingredients were used to make the colors. There are even demonstrations of how Rembrandt began making sketches. From these sketches, you learn how he began a process of mass producing his artwork through the etchings! The whole process can be demonstrated right in front of you! It’s quite the process but it also made it available for people to buy a print of his without spending an elaborate amount of money for them.
Entry for adults is 13 Euro, children (6-17) 4 Euro, students 10 Euro. The I Amsterdam City Card is valid here. Guided tours are available for groups, and is required to have confirmed booking two weeks in advanced.
