The Dam Square monument that is present today was designed to honor those who lost their lives during WWII. Prior to WWII, another monument had been there to honor the Ten Days’ Campaign. However, a final piece was revealed in 1956. This monument contains 12 urns of soil from war grounds, and figures representing war, resistance, and peace.
